Three Essential Moves To Increase Your Value Right Now
The Olive Tree
1. Olive trees do not produce fruit unless they receive both the harsh hot winds of the desert and the cool refreshing breezes of the sea. The olive tree doesn't reach it's full potential with out experiencing both the harsh and the rewarding.
Like the resilient olive tree, our journey to fulfillment is shaped by the contrasting forces of adversity and blessing. Just as the olive tree flourishes under the dual influence of scorching desert winds and soothing coastal breezes, we too must navigate the highs and lows of life to unlock our true potential. Through the crucible of challenges and triumphs, we cultivate the strength, resilience, and wisdom needed to bear the fruits of our purpose. Embracing both pain and joy, despair and hope, criticism and encouragement, we emerge stronger and wiser, ready to fulfill our destinies.
2. Even as the olive tree bears its fruit, it presents it hard and bitter, hardly fit for consumption. Through a series of rigorous processes—washing, soaking, salting, and more soaking—it undergoes transformation, shedding its bitterness to become palatable and useful.
Similarly, we, like the olive, remain unutilized until we rid ourselves of the bitterness stemming from adversities and challenges. Our own bitter experiences serve little purpose until we engage in the process of introspection and growth. Painful trials are intended to refine us, fostering humility and empathy while expanding our capacity for understanding. It is within the crucible of adversity that we cultivate emotional resilience and deepen our well of wisdom.
3. The true treasure of the olive lies not in its fruit, but in the oil it yields. This oil, a symbol of richness and sustenance, extends its enrichment and nourishment to the world.
As Joseph Campbell beautifully articulates, "The ultimate aim of the quest must be neither release nor ecstasy for oneself, but the wisdom and the power to serve others." In embracing life's journey, we mirror the resilience and purpose of the olive tree, finding fulfillment in service to others rather than mere personal fulfillment.
In the words of Darren Hardy, "The distance you can go in life comes down to the amount of pain you are willing to endure to grow there." Just as the olive tree endures the crucible of adversity to reach its full potential, so too must we confront our trials and tribulations with courage and perseverance, knowing that growth and fulfillment await on the other side.
The Lesson here was shared by Darren Hardy from Darren's Daily and the notes around the points were from my notes.
