Here's this month's tips:
Summer’s finally here—and while it might be time for barbecues and backyard hangs, it’s not the time to ignore your home. June brings heat, humidity, and heavy use of systems like air conditioning and irrigation. That means it’s time to double-check the little things that can become big problems later on.
Here’s your Holmes Checklist for June—5 simple tasks to keep your home running safely and efficiently:
Ceiling Fans:
In the warm summer months, ensure ceiling fans are running counterclockwise to push cool air down, creating a breeze and helping to keep your home comfortable.
Inspect Your Driveway:
Hard winters can damage driveways. For small holes and cracks on concrete driveways, fill them with a cement repair product to prevent further deterioration.
Change Your Furnace Filters:
It's a good habit to change your filters monthly during the summer to maintain optimal air quality and system efficiency.
Check the Weather Stripping:
Inspect the weather stripping around doors and windows. If it is broken or missing, it can allow unwanted drafts into your home, reducing energy efficiency.
Clean and Inspect Your Outdoor AC Unit:
Grass clippings, leaves, and dirt can clog your outdoor AC unit. Turn off the power, remove debris, and gently hose down the unit to keep it functioning properly.
