Momentum Of The Market

Going Through "The Big D" Motivates Your Market

July 20, 20241 min read

I'm often asked why people move and what drives the momentum of the market. The simple answer is that life's "Seven D's" are the primary motivators behind people's decisions to relocate. These factors significantly influence the real estate market:

#thomasjnelsonrealtor

  • Diamonds: Marriage and moving in together often lead to buying a new home.

  • Diapers: Growing families need more space, prompting moves to larger homes. This also causes grandparents to move closer to the grandchildren!

  • Diplomas: When children leave for college, parents might downsize, transitioning to smaller homes.

  • Divorce: Separation necessitates selling the family home and buying new, separate residences.

  • Deployments: Military (PCS) changes of service and corporate relocations or promotions often require moving.

  • Death: Inheritance and family transitions often result in the sale of family homes.

  • Declining Mortgage Rates: Lower rates make buying more affordable, stimulating demand. This often encourages renters to become homeowners and motivates current homeowners to adapt to life's changes and make a move they have been postponing due to higher rates.

These life events, combined with favorable mortgage conditions, drive significant activity in the housing market. This pent-up demand can lead to increased competition among buyers, potentially driving up prices and affecting market dynamics. If life is motivating you to move, I can personally help you in San Diego and my nation-wide team (of personal relationships) can help you in any major city of the US and Canada.
